![]() ![]() For all his power, Star Wars has proven time and time again that Darth Vader is a victim of his own rage, no matter how much he tries to deny it. Within this line of thinking, Yoda may have been correct all along and Vader’s sense of power derived from his hatred is just a false front. Although he’s become evil enough to blindly believe that he’s the best version of himself, in actuality he still may be suffering as a slave to Sidious and the dark side. Fear drove him to become possessive of those he loved, and eventually he paid the price for it when he fully gave in to the dark side and lost Padmé. His philosophy is very telling of the Sith mentality as they see pain as a tool that improves them, whereas the Jedi see peace and harmony as a much more powerful concept.Īt the root of Vader’s beliefs is fear. Overall it seems that Vader associates hatred with death and suffering, and sees the positions of power that the dark side offers as the better alternative.
